Learn to Skate
Learn to skate classes, also known as Star Classes, are available at Bayswater, Eltham,
Dandenong, Frankston, Lilydale and Scoresby. Times of the sessions are indicated in the
table below. Click on the links for more information regarding the locations and contact
details for the rinks. You can also get Private Skating Lessons at Bayside Blades.
The classes are designed for all levels of skating ability starting with learning to
keep your balance on skates, turning from forwards to backwards, crouches, basic jump and turns all the way up to complex jumps and spins. Skaters advance through the Star levels at their own pace.
Artistic rollerskating can be performed on the more traditional quad skates or on in-line skates. The majority of competitive skaters use quad skates.
Each class is run under the guidance of accredited coaches who provide a safe and fun learning environment.
Skaters can continue their development by organising private lessons, by joining a precision team with other skaters of a similar age and similar abilities and by entering competitions if desired.
Joining in a Christmas show is also a fun way of showing off what has been learned in the Star Classes.
